Healthy eating at Pre-School

Healthy eating

At Haylands Pre-School, we promote good health by being a healthy, allergy aware school.

All pre-school staff have completed level two in food hygiene

We promote healthy eating through our café style snack, we have a morning and afternoon snack time. We always clean the table before snack is opened. We announce to the children that snack table is open, the children are able to select fruit from our fruit bowl and pour themselves a drink of either milk or water and sit down at the snack table to enjoy these. We do not interrupt their play, we encourage the children to have a drink and give them a five minute warning of when the snack table is closing.

If your child attends pre-school for the morning or whole day session, they will need to bring a named lunchbox.

We ask that parents/carers be allergy aware when providing your child with their lunchbox.

Here is a list of some healthy lunch ideas

We ask that parents/carers bring in a labelled water bottle to pre-school and there is also fresh drinking water available for the children to help themselves too throughout the day.
