Class 4A

Welcome to Class 4A

Please take a look below at the exciting things we are currently learning and will be learning during Autumn term.

 

Maths

In Maths we have started to develop our knowledge of Place Value, Addition and Subtraction and Measure. We are going to begin work on Multiplication and Division where the children will learn their 6 and 7 multiplication tables. Please practise these at home with your child. 

 

Reading

We have begun using Grammarsaurus for our Reading this academic year and have read about the importance of looking after the planet and the impact that deforestation can have on the Earth and the animals that live here. We are going to be reading about the Bronze Age and Stone Age.

 

Writing

We have started the year in Writing by looking at the Place Value of Grammar and Punctuation. We have used this as a new approach to writing lessons. This academic year we have also started to look at morphology as our approach to Spelling. 

 

Art

We created Canopic Jars that were used in Ancient Egypt.

 

Science

This term we have explored living things and their habitats and will be beginning to explore states of matter.

 

Geography

Later this term we will begin our Geography where we will learn about Italy and how the region of Campania compares with our local region. 

 

DT

In DT we will be exploring chocolate and how it's created with the consideration and implementation of fair trade.

 

PE

So far this term, children have developed skills in Gymnastics and Team Games.

 

Computing

This term children are learning about networks and how the internet works. Additionally we will be exploring the features of websites.

 

MFL

We celebrated European International Day of Languages in school by exploring German. 

In French lessons we have explored descriptions of people.

 

Music

We have explored body percussion in Music and will be composing our own pieces linked to the rainforest.

 

PSHE

In PSHE we have explored the importance of nutrition.
