Breakfast and After School Club (‘Playzone’)
PlayZone is part of the extended schools programme at Haylands Primary School. Haylands Out Of School Club started in 1999 with a very popular Breakfast Club and shortly after that we opened an After School Club from 3 p.m. till 6 p.m. Our extended services are now known solely as ‘Playzone’. We are dedicated to the development of children from 3-11 years in our care and the children’s play experiences are based around their developmental needs.
We treat each child as an individual and attend to their own unique needs. We follow the EYFS regulations for our children aged under 5. From the time your child arrives with us they play at their own developmental abilities. The ethos of Playzone is to relax and enjoy time with their peers and adults in a safe, caring and friendly environment.
We have a range of activities that the children can access at any time. We have the use of DVD, iPads and large screen and projector for music, cartoons etc..
At teatime the children have the opportunity to sit and share their day with peers and adults during a light tea and fruit, which is provided by the club. They also participate in fine motor activities like drawing, colouring, tracing, painting and lots of different craft-making activities. We have use of the playground and we like to play a variety of different outdoor activities.
Playzone is situated in the school hall. During term time only, the ‘Breakfast Club’ opens at 7.45am through the outside hall door and costs £2 per morning or £2.50 with breakfast. At 8.45am children are taken into the main school and Puddleducks pre-school. After-school club starts at 3pm and closes at 6pm, Monday to Friday. Costs are £4 until 4pm, £5 until 5pm and £6 until 6pm.
Payment can be made with each session, or by weekly cheque made payable to ‘Haylands Primary School Isle of Wight Council’. Cash is also accepted.
Please note that we cannot refund any prepaid sessions unless we have at least 24 hours advance notice or there are ‘exceptional’ circumstances (verified at the Headteacher’s discretion). The reason is that we have to ensure adult/child ratios and therefore set the adult numbers the day before the session is due to run.
